Jadis Shadows brings Shakespeare’s classic tale of self induced tragedy and the occult into haunting reality.
Macbeth, Shakespeare’s dramatic dramatisation from the chronicles of Scottish history is being brought vividly to life by touring theatre company Jadis Shadows Productions this Spring/Summer.
Macbeth has been promised greatness by the figures in the mist. His interest is piqued, his ambition swelled; yet how far is he willing to go to reach his ultimate goal? There is but one obstacle that must be overcome; one man’s life still stands in his way. Should he wait for fate to run its course or should he carve out his own destiny?
Yet he is soon to discover that if he wavers, if his conscience stirs, his wife is ever ready to ‘lend her support’, a woman whose ambition surpasses even his own…
Were the strangers in the fog correct or will they lead the couple down a path of darkness leading to madness and ultimate destruction?
Jadis Shadows works in depth unlocking the intricate themes and imagery woven into a plays text. Character workshops and experimentation throughout rehearsals aided the cast in discovering fresh, yet relevant, meaning within this well known tale of ambition, treachery,
murder and the occult.
Jadis Shadows was established in 2008 with the aid of Lottery funding. To date the company has carried many successful tours including ‘Mary Stuart’ and ‘Revenger’s Tragedy’ which have been applauded for their specially adapted texts, design and accessibly to modern audiences.
As a company it has a strong ethos in utilising the rehearsal period to its strongest advantage as well as promoting full research into the historical foundations of their chosen texts amongst its casts.
